Don't give up on us - David Soul

It was a real boring match last nite. Almost as bad as any of England's games! South Korea were so lost. They were like the little bird that wandered into me old house last time and kept on flying onto the glass window, trying in vain to fly out. They had no imagination watsoever. And in spite of their physical disadvantage, they persisited on putting the long balls up front - and not reaping any rewards.

France was a disgrace. After the early lead, they had no initiative at all! No urgency. They were content to just sit back and snuff out all of Korea's long balls in to their box!

I have to admit that i gave up and went to the kitchen to wash me dishes. But when i got back, i was surprised to see the score levelled at 1-1!!!! This was the moment of truth:-

World Cup 2006: France vs South Korea 1-1

At the end of the day, credit must be given to the Korean team. Even the BBC pundits did that. The Koreans tried and tried, and they tried and tried. And they never gave up! And finally, all their efforts were rewarded. May not win any prizes for most beautiful goal but hey, it ended up in the goal, behind the line, and tt's all that mattered!

Oh, it oso may turn out to be one of the World Cup's funniest moment! Watch the clip again and in one of the replays (the reversed angled replat), you get to see William Gallas' reaction to the goal. Simply hilarious - and Ian Wright at the BBC studio couldn't stop laughing.

Sure, we all pity Gallas. Look at the way how the ball arch over him and all he could do was to look helplessly and not be able to anything about it. The only thing he could do was jump and spike it out - but that would have been really, really low, and the worst kind of unsportsmanship.

His frustration was so evident - so while we feel for him, we have to say it was pretty amusing display of emotion!

Ah... that's the beauty of footie!

Oh, just one more note of that game - the South Korean fans were fantastic! As Alan hansen said, they were the 12th player for the team. They never gave up, they kept at it all nite, singing their hearts out, hitting on the drums, cheering their team on! Truly brilliant!

Oh, for those who missed the brilliant penalty save yesterday by Kawaguchi, here it is - and as per the previous clip, me dun know wat language - but footie transcends all barriers! :-)
