Bicycle race - Queen

I "worked" yesterday! I was a paid volunteer for the psychology department. Basically, they wanted someone who does not exercise regularly and who has a reasonably good command of English! It's as if it was tailor made for me! ;-P

So I went (altho some mates were concerned that they could be aliens in disguise trying to conduct some weird science experiment on me!). There were 2 parts to it. The first involved me on an exercise bike. It was quite fun, actually! Initially...

I had to cycle at 60 rpm and then they'll add weights to it and I have to maintain the same speed!

After that, I had to do some memory/reflex experiement thingy on a PC. I oso had to fill in a questionaire about exercising. I kinda guess wat it's all about and I suspect that they were trying to subconsciously brainwash me to exercise! Really!

In one of the experiments, a word will appear on the screen. I will have to press the yellow button is it was not a proper word. If it was a proper word, then I'll have to press the read button. This was the last experiment. What actually happens is that first, this will appear on the screen:-

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

It disappears and then the test word appears. It could be "planet" and then I'll press the red button - or "sibat" and then I'll press the yellow button.

Here's the catch - I noticed that my mind keeps on picking up certain words before the test word appears. And two words I can remember are "exercise" & "jog"! So - i guess - right after the stream of "X"s appear, they'll flash a word like "exercise" before the test-word appears.

So were they trying to subconsciously make me want to exercise? Well, I figured that if that's wat they were trying to do, I really wouldn't mind!

At the end of the experiment, we were made to make some sort of commitment (actually we had no choice) to exercise at least 3 times a week, each time not less than 20 minutes.
I am supposed to go back in 4 weeks time and do the whole thing again.

So for around 3 and a half hours "work", I get paid 19 quid! Not bad-eh?

Oh - when they weighed me b4 getting on the bicycle, I discovered (unless the scales here and/or the ones at home are faulty) that I have lost 4 kgs since I got here!

Am thinking of getting an exercise bike - can exercise and watch Desperate Housewives at the same time...

Comments:
"can exercise and watch Desperate Housewives at the same time..."
