Singing in the rain - Jamie Callum
Yes! Barca won! Woohoo! The rightful heirs to Liverpool! ;-P
I din watch the match. Studying! But i kept the Uefa website and the BBC Sports site opened. No audio commentary but there were text updates. And for the Uefa site, when someone scores a goal, there'll be the sound of cheering - and that means i'll have to go and check and see who scored. Altho thanks to some of the chinese squatters in my flat, i'd know about the goal before the site tells me - by their loud cheers outside!
So i won't be able to comment on the game much - save for the fact that i'm glad that Arsenal din win! There's just this arrogance in them that turns me off. The image of Pires diving still is clear in my mind - altho that took place a couple of seasons ago. So no surprise that i was filled wif glee when i found out that Pires got sacrificed.
It was also no surprise to hear of comments - even from the local Brit pundits - that Lehmann deservedly got the red card and how Eboue fell theatrically to get a free kick from which Arsenal got their solitary goal. One pundit even expressed surprise that when Lehmann fouled Eto'o, the referee did not see Guily.
No surprise also to hear the response of Arsenal after the game - it was the referee's fault! Henry was so sore that he said he is thinking of learning how to dive (he should ask his good fren Pires, then). Wenger as usual is sore at the refereeing decisions which went against Arsenal - of course he did not complain about the fact that the referee gave them a fortunate freekick which resulted in their goal. Nor did he complain about how quick the referee was to blow for a foul when he should have seen Guily and allowed for advantage play - that would result in a goal for Barca and a red card for Arsenal!!!!!
Ah... who cares how they react? The Barca players were partying in the rain - and deservedly so. For once, a true champion won the Champions League Cup! And surprise, surprise - altho a pleasant one for me - the hero was not the Brazillian nor the player from Cameroon. It was Henrik Larsson!
Swede!

Addendum: Well, looks like Liverpool had played a vital role in this year's finals too! Eto'o was quoted to say "We (i.e. Barca) covered ourselves in the spirit of Liverpool."!!!! He said that Barca was "inspired" by Liverpool and they followed "Liverpool's example"! Read more here.
