Let me let go - Faith Hill
Warning: Major spoilers regarding Buffy, in particular, the season finale of Season 2 and the subsequent episodes in Season 3.
Buffy finds it hard to deal wif wat had happened. No surprise. She loved Angel. Still does. Always had - even tho she knew that there can never be a future. Their destinies could not lie further apart. They could not be more different. Yes, they are from different worlds, literally.
Yet, she loved him. With all her heart. Maybe the sheer obstacles and difficulties faced only made her love grow stronger.
She loved him even after he changed. And change, he did. Overnight. Without any explanation - not to her, anyway. One can only imagine the inner confusion she felt. This was not the Angel she knew! It can't be! Or maybe the Angel she knew was not real. Maybe this was the real Angel.
How can one who loved become one who causes so much hurt? Buffy was willing to give up all for him - if he did not love her, then couldn't they just remain friends? Don't everything that they've been thru together meant anything at all to him?
Apparently not. He left her no choice. She had to cut him out of her life. The irony was that close to the end, he actually came back to her! The Angel that she once knew - he was back.
But it was too late. Too little too late. She had to do it - it was the right thing to do. It killed her just as much - probably more.
She kept it all inside her. After all, who can understand what she went thru? Who can emphatise with love that loved so much, and with hurt that hurt so much?
But she finally mustered the strength to really let go, to stop hoping, to leave the past behind.
She went back to the place where she last saw him. She took the ring he gave her, and she left it at that very spot.
There. It's over. She had finally let go. At long last, she is ready to move on, to live again! She walks away to face a new chapter of her life.
Perhaps, life is worth the living after all. Then, there's this new cute guy, Scott...
After she leaves, just when she lets go and move on, the unthinkable happens. He returns. Angel is back!
The timing could not be better... in an ironic sense, of course.
