Lucky - Britney Spears

Life of sick baby 'intolerable' - this is the opinion of the doctors who (unfortunately) are in charge of Baby MB (for context, read my previous post here).

And what do they mean by intolerable? Is he in constant agony? Does he experience excruciating pain all the time? Has he no one to care for him or love him?

No, no, no.

Their conclusion is based on the fact of Baby MB's "inability to express his wishes, move or show if he is in any pain or distress" (see news report here).

Base on that, they want Baby MB to suffocate and die.

I was watching an old episode of Futurama during the weekend and guess who appeared in that episode? Stephen Hawking!!! We all know who Mr. Hawking is right? And do you know what does Mr. Hawking and Baby MB have in common? They both suffer from a motor neurone disease!!! Yup, spinal muscular atrophy is a kind of a motor neurone disease (see here).

According to Wikipedia, Mr. Hawking was diagnised with motor neurone disease when he was 21 years old. Doctors back then said he would not survive more than 2 or 3 years. They were wrong. He has lived for more than 40 years since - and altho he is basically paralysed, he still lives a pretty full life!

Thank goodness his doctors back then were not the kind of doctors that Baby MB has today - for we would have been deprived of the many discoveries that Hawkings have made - especially in the area of quantum physics (and one very good episode of Futurama!!!). Go here to check out his achievements (and TV appearances - not only did he guest star in Futurama, he oso appeared in among others, The Simpsons and Star Trek!) and the awards he has won since he was diagnosed with the motor neurone disease.

We won't have it there if his doctors decided he should die because his life is "intolerable".

What does he say about his quality of life? According to Wikipedia, he describes himself as "lucky" — not because the slow progress allowed him time to make influential discoveries but because it afforded him time to have, in his own words, "a very attractive family".

If only Baby MB would be given the opportunity to be so lucky - but apparently, it is alleged that that is not in his best interest!!! Kill him off.

The hearing continues...
