You've got a friend - Carole King

I just watched the latest episode of Desperate Housewives.

There was this scene when Susan comes in and finds Bree cleaning up the floor, late at night. Finally, after some coaxing, Bree confesses to Susan that her son did not run away. Instead, she drove him to the middle of nowhere and left him there.

There is a look of shock on Susan's face.

A moment of silence passes.

Susan gets down on her knees and begins to put on gloves. She tells Bree that she's not feeling tired and she might as well help her clean.

Bree looks gratefully at Susan and expresses her appreciation.

OK, OK, i'm doing this really bad!!!! But beieve me when i say that that scene was a powerful one! Bree just shared a dark horrible secret with Susan. And wat did Susan do?

While there was shock, there was no trace of any judgment, no look of disgust.

There were prolly million of questions going thru her mind at that time. But she knew that wat Bree needed then was not a lecture, not some advice, not a reprimand. Bree needed a fren - and Susan just kept Bree company.

That's wat a true fren is - never judgmental, always there, knowing when to talk - and perhaps more importantly, when not to.

Comments:
