Animal instinct - Cranberries
News reports regarding animals caught my attention this week (no, news report about Sven Eriksson does not count as an "animal story"). i thought I'd share 3 wif you - a sad one, a funny one and one that'll make you go "awwww...."!
The first was a saga which started on Friday when a whale was spotted on the Thames in London!!!! It apparently got lost and wandered along the famous sights in London.
I actually tried to get a glimpse of it when i was by the river yesterday morn.
I din see it. But even if i was here at the right place at the right time, i prolly wont get to see it cuz of the crowd there. Here's how one reporter described it - "Getting a vantage point is as difficult as getting tickets for the fifth day of an Ashes decider or a Tim Henman final at Wimbledon (which is as unlikely as the thought of a whale in the Thames was a week ago)."
And i'll never get a chance again. The whale died at bout 7 pm yesterday - after efforts were made to try to rescue it. :-( You can read about it (and link to the earlier reports and more pics) here.
The next story is like a tragic comedy. A guy found out his girlfren was cheating on him. Apparently, a little bird told him - literally!!!!!!
His pet parrot alerted him when it squawked "I love you, Gary". Yup, the parrot's owner's name is not Gary!!!! The parrot also made smooching noises whenever the name "Gary" was mentioned on TV!!!!!
The cheating girl confessed and was thrown out. I dun feel sorry for her - it's bad enuf to have an affair but to bring the guy back to her boyfren's house???
The really sad thing was that the parrot owner had to give up his parrot in the end too cuz it just cant stop reminding him about "Gary"!!!! Read all about it here!
And finally, a story of a wonderful frenship - between a snake and his "meal", a hamster!!!!! (see pic on the left!)
Here's how the report goes:- "Their relationship began in October last year, when zookeepers presented the hamster to the snake as a meal.
The rat snake, however, refused to eat the rodent. The two now share a cage, and the hamster sometimes falls asleep sitting on top of his natural foe."
Read the whole report here.
After thinking about it, it's not so surprising - I mean, I know of humans who keeps chicken or pig or dog (*gasp* - yes, Asians eat dog-meat... not all Asians, tho) or fish as pets - and grow to love and adore them!!!!!!
Still, if the snake and the hamster can live together, it sure gives us inspiration to learn to put aside our differences and learn to get along wif everybody!!!!!
This reminds me of a passage from the Bible about the future:-

This reminds me of a passage from the Bible about the future:-
The wolf will live with the lamb,
the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
and a little child will lead them.
The cow will feed with the bear,
their young will lie down together,
and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
The infant will play near the hole of the cobra,
and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest.
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD
as the waters cover the sea.
Isaiah 11v 6 -9
