Straight from the heart - Bryan Adams

More on newspapers - but M'sian newspapers!

Yeah, wif internet (compared wif 10 years ago), I can easily be informed of all the local news. It has been interesting - and somewat embarrassing at times!!! Like when I read about how the "stolen" paintings from the National Gallery were found - in the store room of the National Gallery!!!! Sigh... M'sian efficiency?

The front page of the Star today caught me attention, tho.

Low-income group shows they are first class when it comes to giving

BY LEE YUK PENG

MALACCA: They are not among the rich and famous and do not have millions to give away.

But what these unsung heroes gave away was as precious as life itself. It is life.

For them, the right thing to do – though painful – was to donate the organs of their loved ones, so others may live.

(Read the article in its entirety here)

I became an organ donor in 1993 when I found out about it in London and realised how easy it is to become one! Just get a card and sign it! Then tell your family members!!!!

Me donor card - been in my wallet for more than 12 years!!!! Posted by Picasa

After all, wat can we lose when we are physically dead? On the contrary, there are countless of people out there just waiting - and praying - everyday that a heart or a kidney is available in order that they can have an extended lease of life. Even if you pledge your corneas, imagine the joy and thrill the donee will have when he or she is able to see again!

The Bible is silent on this but it is clear that we will be given new bodies when Christ returns. So why allow our organs to rot away when we have no need for it anymore?

And why is it only the low income groups show more urgency in matters like this? Shouldn't it be the more we receive, the more we would want to give?

Ultimately, death does not recognise the income group of a person. We can't escape it. There is nothing we can do about it. But there is sumthing we can do to help those who are still alive.

Pledge your organs. You won't live to regret it!
